OUR MISSION

The Montana State Library (MSL) helps all organizations, communities, and Montanans thrive through excellent library resources and services.

The Montana State Library Commission is authorized in 22-1-101, MCA, and is further authorized to give assistance and advice to all tax-supported or public libraries and to provide services for the blind and for individuals with physical disabilities, 22-1-103, MCA, to administer a state publications depository library program, 22-1-212, MCA, and to provide standards and consistent collection and maintenance of commonly available land information, 90-1-402, MCA, and to maintain a natural resource information system including the Montana Natural Heritage Program, 90-15-101, MCA.
